At Lace Lithography, we’re looking for an experienced Facility Manager to join us in Bergen. As our Facility Manager you will oversee our day-to-day laboratory operations in our new facility. Underpinning the activities of our Hardware Team, this role will provide specialist technical support and management to ensure the success of hardware projects.
This is a key role in managing the operational success of our hardware initiatives, combining technical support and leadership with practical lab management duties.
About the role
As Facility Manager, you’ll take ownership of our day-to-day laboratory operations in our new Bergen facility. This critical role ensures our labs run seamlessly to support the fast-paced and ambitious work of our hardware team. You’ll provide both operational oversight and technical expertise, helping establish and maintain the infrastructure that underpins Lace’s most advanced hardware development.
You will work closely with the Head of Hardware and Technical Project Manager, contributing directly to the success of our experiments, instrument deployment, and project milestones.
This position requires relocation to Bergen to ensure alignment and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily laboratory operations: equipment scheduling, inventory control, and maintenance.
- Support the setup and commissioning of technical infrastructure and scientific instruments.
- Supervise and support hardware engineers and scientists during lab activities.
- Develop and enforce lab procedures, SOPs, and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and maintain a clean, safe lab environment.
- Manage procurement and budgeting for lab supplies, tools, and services.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure smooth lab operation.
- Conduct onboarding and training sessions on instrumentation and lab processes.
- Monitor and report on project timelines, risks, and lab capacity to leadership.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and integrate new tools where appropriate.
Who you are
- Technically skilled across a broad range of instruments and lab techniques, especially those related to high and ultrahigh vacuum or the semiconductor industry.
- Experienced in operating and maintaining advanced scientific equipment in a hands-on setting.
- Adept at managing complex lab environments, from installation to daily operation.
- Proactive, independent, and resourceful. You see what’s needed and make it happen.
- A clear communicator who collaborates easily across teams and disciplines.
- Comfortable working within budget and project constraints, and able to escalate challenges early.
- Committed to excellence in operational support, with a passion for enabling cutting-edge research.
