Lead Engineer

bunny.net is where individual imaginations gather together to solve next-generation internet challenges. Join a team of experts and, together, help shape the future of the internet. Here, you'll do more than join something — you'll add something.

We're not just saying that, but our culture really hops. We have established values that enable our fluffle to grow stronger with each new team member who joins us: Relentless Innovation. Integrity. Impact. Kindness. Diversity. Transparency & open communication. We also believe "good" is not good enough, and we continue striving to keep pushing things to the next level by learning and improving every single day. Oh, and did we mention that all our positions are 100% remote with a flexible working schedule? There's no need to relocate if you would like to join us, and you can carve out your own work schedule as well!

Lead Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Engineer to join the bunny.net team. In this role, you will lead a multi-disciplinary stream-aligned engineering team, ensuring the delivery of robust and scalable solutions. You will work closely with teams in other departments, including product management, sales and support, to build innovative products that meet our customers' needs. Our ideal candidate is a technical expert with strong leadership abilities and a proven track record of successfully managing engineering teams and delivering projects.

What will you do?

  • Develop and implement technical strategy: Collaborate with the Engineering Leadership and Product Management teams to define the technical direction and architecture of our products. Ensure alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Lead engineering teams: Oversee and mentor one or more stream-aligned teams of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional growth. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
  • Manage the development lifecycle: Oversee the entire development process from concept to deployment and operation, including planning, coding, testing, and release management. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Drive innovation: Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Identify opportunities for innovation and implement new technologies to keep our products ahead of the competition.
  • Ensure code quality and performance: Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and performance optimisation techniques. Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high-quality code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business and customer needs.
  • Solve complex technical problems: Identify and resolve technical challenges, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and performance of our products.
  • Optimise high performing teams: You'll help us implement Team Topologies to organise and optimise team structures and interactions, ensuring effective team collaboration and streamlined workflows resulting in a modernised architecture.

What will you add?

  • Technical expertise: A deep understanding of software engineering principles, with extensive experience in one or more programming languages and frameworks (ideally C# .NET).
  • Industry experience: Solid experience in CDN, Streaming, Storage Systems, DNS or Security is a huge plus but not a deal breaker.
  • Leadership and mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Customer-centric approach: A commitment to understanding and addressing customer needs, with a focus on delivering exceptional user experiences.
  • Data-driven decision making: Proficiency in using data analytics and metrics to inform engineering decisions and measure success.
  • Strong project management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strategic vision: Bring a strategic perspective to engineering planning and decision-making, aligning technical initiatives with business goals.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and market conditions.
  • Innovative thinking: Continuously seek out new ideas and approaches to improve our products and stay ahead of the competition.
  • Collaborative mindset: Work effectively with cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared success.

What will make us extra happy?

  • Experience with Edge computing: Hands-on experience with designing, developing, and deploying edge computing solutions.
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup environment: Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment with the agility to pivot quickly.
  • Expertise in Agile methodologies: Proficiency in Agile development practices, including Scrum and Kanban, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills: Demonstrated ability to tackle complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with developer experience (DevEx): A background in improving developer tools, workflows, and productivity.
  • Knowledge of Team Topologies: Understanding and practical experience in applying Team Topologies principles to improve team interactions and efficiency.
