Financial Controller (Maternity Cover)

We’re seeking a commercially sharp, hands-on Financial Controller (maternity cover) to help steer this crucial phase. This role isn’t just about balancing books or ticking boxes, it’s about building the financial foundation of a bold, global company that moves fast and thinks big.

With the support of our stellar team and trusted local payroll and accounting partners, you’ll take full ownership of bunny.net’s financial health, ensuring timely, accurate closes, and financial processes that keep us sharp and compliant.

Role type: 16-month maternity leave cover, with the possibility of extension or permanent placement.

Ideal location: Anywhere in Europe (experience with Slovenian accounting or being based in Slovenia is a plus but not required).

Ideal start date: September 1, 2025

What will you do?

• Own the month-end reporting process for all European entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local regulations
  
• Manage and reconcile bank accounts, ensuring all transactions are recorded and discrepancies resolved promptly
  
• Oversee and improve cash flow management, providing regular updates on the group’s financial position
  
• Review and approve all employee-related financial processes, including payroll journal entries and reconciliations
  
• Coordinate with external accounting firms to ensure local compliance, including VAT filings and statutory reporting
  
• Lead audit preparation and liaise with auditors to ensure smooth and efficient reviews
  
• Support the implementation of financial controls to maintain compliance and reduce risk
  
• Support optimization of NetSuite, finance automation tools, or other internal systems

What will you bring?

• A professional accounting qualification (such as ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) and a solid understanding of financial reporting standards
  
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and IFRS, with proven experience in applying IFRS for accurate financial reporting and statutory submissions
  
• Proven ability to manage day-to-day accounting operations using NetSuite
  
• Previous experience working in a startup or high-growth tech environment
  
• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to identify improvements and implement them effectively
  
• Exceptional communication skills to translate financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
  
• Experience optimizing financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy

What will make us extra happy?

• Practical experience with either Braintree, Paypal, Coinify, or SFDC
  
• Familiarity with SaaS start-ups and/or businesses with a high volume of usage-based transactions
  
• Experience working with subsidiaries, multi-currency organizations, and non-Slovenian financial reporting standards
  
• Knowledge of income tax, labor laws, social benefits, pension contributions, social security, and travel reimbursement policies in one or more European countries
