Installation & Maintenance Engineer Optics / Lasers - W/M

Participate in the rapid development of a deep-tech start-up at the forefront of the second quantum revolution!

About PASQAL

PASQAL designs, develops and commercializes quantum processors (QPUs) based on neutral atoms cooled by laser technology. These extremely complex machines combine multiple high-level technical domains, including optics and lasers, electronics, optomechanics, software, precision mechanics and high-vacuum systems.

Our technology enables applications that are currently out of reach for today’s most powerful supercomputers, while significantly reducing the carbon footprint of high-performance computing thanks to exceptional energy efficiency.

Job Description

As part of the deployment of our QPUs manufactured at our Massy site, we are looking for an Installation & Maintenance Engineer – Complex Machines (Optics / Lasers) who will work at the heart of highly advanced technologies. As QPUs rely extensively on complex optical and laser architectures, we are seeking a candidate with strong knowledge in these fields.

You will join the Installation & Maintenance team (10 engineers) within the Production & Project Management department. This team is responsible for the installation, commissioning, acceptance testing and maintenance of QPUs on site—either at PASQAL or at customer data centers (HPC sites in France, Europe and the Middle East).

This role places you directly at the core of our optical technologies: you will work on complex laser systems, multi-axis optical benches, high-precision alignments and advanced optical diagnostics.

We are recruiting a Installation & Maintenance engineer to reinforce our support team. In this context, your main missions will be :

  • Install and commission QPUs on internal or customer sites, with a key role in optical alignments, laser tuning and validation, as well as performing hardware/software upgrades.

  • Participate in final on-site acceptance testing and functional validation.

  • Receive, analyze and follow customer issues until resolution.

  • Perform diagnostics to identify root causes of failures and coordinate the required technical interventions.

  • Intervene on site to restore machines to operational state and deploy corrective actions.

  • Contribute to the development and validation of diagnostic, maintenance and repair procedures, working closely with optics, optomechanics, electronics, mechanics, software and production teams.

  • Document incidents, ensure full traceability of interventions, and contribute to the continuous improvement of QPU reliability.

The position is based in Massy, with occasional travel from several days to several weeks in Europe and the Middle East.
