Our People Team is evolving as the incredible Zopa growth journey continues – and we are looking for a Payroll Administrator to join a friendly people team, processing a monthly outsourced payroll of around 660 UK colleagues and a small Barcelona payroll. There will also be a further 60 UK based colleagues in a subsidiary payroll to process from Q3 this year.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager the Payroll Administrator will take ownership of the day-to-day processing of all areas of the payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing to deliver an exceptional colleague experience each pay cycle. You’ll play a key role in collaborating with the payroll vendor, finance, and other people team colleagues to assist continual improvements and other initiatives creating an efficient payroll process.
We’re looking for someone who will thrive within a fast-paced business and who is confident in preparing, processing and analysing payroll information.
The People Team is currently 23 strong and provides support to more than 670 Zopians. Our teams are continuing to grow and mature with new Zopians joining us every week.
A day in the life:
- Effectively working across the People Team to ensure processing activities align to meet deadlines.
- Collate data for monthly payroll submission to external payroll providers for UK & BCN payrolls in Excel and managing advance processes.
- Work in partnership with the payroll vendors to ensure processes and data are accurate for processing.
- Payroll checking / manage the query log with the payroll vendors.
- Coordinating the sign off process.
- Resolve payroll queries providing a high level of customer service to colleagues, People Team and payroll vendors via a payroll mailbox.
- Reconcile payroll reports and HMRC payments.
- Coordinate third party payments.
- Reporting for finance using Excel.
- End to end pension administration.
- Administration of Activ8 payslip system.
- Risk and control audit for payroll data and Activ8 system.
- Prepare data for auditors.
- P11D collation.
- Provide assistance to the Payroll Manager.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards, confidentiality and adhere to GDPR regulations.
- Continuous improvement mind set, investigate improvement opportunities, and share within the People Services team.
About you:
- Proven payroll experience including administration of an outsourced payroll
- Previous role within a finance team or understanding of payroll accounting methodology.
- Strong Excel capability including lookups and pivots tables.
- Working towards or would like to study CIPP foundation degree in Payroll Management
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, and a high degree of numerical literacy.
- A passion for problem-solving.
- Demonstrates our values: a customer champion, enjoys being part of team, creates efficiencies.
- Able to meet deadlines whilst balancing several pressing priorities and staying calm under pressure.
- Strong communication skills verbal & written.
- Organised and can demonstrate the ability to multi-task.
