We’re looking for an Associate Director to join the FP&A team of our award-winning, fast-growing Bank. This candidate will be an expert in financial modelling with strong leadership skills and an ability to provide insights that will help shape the strategic direction of the Bank.
You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing the Bank's modelling across all areas of financial planning including, budgeting, forecasting, long term financial planning, capital planning and stress testing. You will lead a small team of talented modellers and analysts, ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and consistency across all models. You will also collaborate closely with senior stakeholders from across the whole business, providing insights and recommendations based on your experience and modelling expertise.

A day in the life:

  • Own new and existing financial models, including overall P&L and balance sheet, regulatory capital, product forecasts and stress testing.
  • Provide significant input in long-term planning process, working with senior leadership to ensure key inputs and assumptions are appropriately grounded and understood
  • Key contributor onforward planning for capital management and other regulatory requirements, including stress testing and ICAAP design
  • Work with CEO, CFO, FP&A Director and other senior stakeholders to develop plans to support equity and other investment, including evaluating multiple scenarios
  • Lead a small team of modellers and analysts, coaching them and helping to develop their skills
  • Lead team in continuing to build out and extract maximum benefit from our financial planning system (Anaplan)
  • Drive thinking on how AI can be used to enhance financial modelling and planning

About you:

  • You have significant experience in financial modelling within retail banking, or at least the financial services sector.
  • You’re extremely analytical and you will use this talent to provide best in class financial insight and output to help drive business strategy.
  • Have a strong understanding of pricing and credit risk for a range of retail lending products. You use this understanding to create accurate modelling and insightful analysis on the performance of these products.
  • You have experience optimising a financial planning tool, preferably Anaplan, including building out a suite of dashboards to be used by various stakeholders.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of analytical and financial planning tools, such as Excel, VBA, SQL, Python, Anaplan etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of, and a desire to implement, best practices for model development, validation, governance, and documentation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership, management, and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop your team.
  • You have a proactive, creative, and problem-solving mindset, with a strong desire to succeed and the ability to identify and implement improvements and innovations in modelling processes and methodologies.
