We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Unsecured Personal Loan tribe and help us take our industry leading loans to the next level. We are already the largest open market loan provider in the UK but our ambition is huge and we believe there are still many more ways we can meet our customer needs. We live and breathe customers and this role will focus on driving insight from customers, as well as using market insight and a range of industry data to design the next game changing lending product in the market. This may involve collaborating with 3rd parties, innovating our on current product or blurring the lines between lending products to create something truly unique!
This is a highly autonomous and high ownership role, in which you will own the whole product lifecycle – ideating new propositions, taking them through the design process using a range of market leading research techniques including rapid development prototyping. You’ll then be responsible for delivering the new product and launching it in the market!
Of course, you won't be doing this alone! Collaboration is in our Zopa DNA which means you'll be part of a cross-functional squad of talented and passionate engineers, designers, copy writers, researchers and analysts working together from concept through to delivery. There’s no room for ivory tower thinking and dishing out requirements - you’ll need to work proactively and collaboratively from the ground up, engaging stakeholders and getting their buy in and most importantly making sure we're building the right things.

A day in the life...

  • Have an eye on the bigger picture. The UPL market is a constantly evolving place and with the rise of BNPL, there is huge opportunity to innovate and make sure Zopa is at the cutting edge
  • Bring together key insights with the help of design and analyst teams to plot out where the big opportunities are. Use a range of data to understand where growth opportunities exist, assessing which target segments the lending team should be focussing on
  • Work with the design team to create and refine customer personas for lending
  • Run ideation sessions, creating innovative new propositions, using a range of customer research techniques, constantly iterating and refining the proposition until it resonates consistently in the market
  • Help us make key commercial decisions, e.g. what new feature will drive the maximum engagement and does that translate into financial returns? Collaborate with engineers in your team to work out how to build the product, helping them make the right trade-offs to ensure a speedy delivery
  • With the help of the engineers and designers in your team, ensure everything built is beautiful, valuable, viable, usable and feasible
  • Build close relationships with key stakeholders such as Operations, Compliance, Brand, Legal and Finance to effectively and collaboratively solve problems
  • Work closely with the UPL Product Lead on over-arching product strategy for customer acquisition and ongoing management

About you...

  • You have strong experience working in a customer facing product environment. Ideally, you have experience at a Fintech, but this isn’t imperative!
  • You're customer orientated – you know full well that if customers don’t love your product, it won’t be a success long term. You’re comfortable combining quantitative and qualitative evidence to bring customer insights into your decision-making process. And, you’re able to collect this evidence yourself where you need to
  • You can point to the products you’ve designed and built from scratch and the success that they’ve had
  • You're outcomes focused – you have a bias for action to ensure we test and learn as we go, consistently progressing towards the end goal. There’s no time for perfection
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and can help others navigate through this to deliver game-changing results at pace
  • You have experience working in a cross-functional team. When you think about who your “team-mates” are, your 'go-to' will be engineers and designers
